Jonathon Livingston Seagull is a fable wrtitten by Richard Bach about a gull that chose to appreciate the sensation of wind beneath his feathers rather than spend all his time searching for fish. He learns to soar while the rest of the memebers of his feathered social group remain trapped in the struggles of the physical world.
The book was published in the 1970s–and if the books ‘moral’ didn’t give that away than a quick glance at the title page and illustrations will attest to the period of its origin. But that doesn’t mean it’s outdated.
In 2008, seagulls take time out to enjoy the warmth of an outdoor pool over the cool (but more lucrative) ocean waters nearby–they got me to stop at least.

I suppose I am. Not that I’m not guilty of it myself sometimes–I’m certainly no Jonathon Livingston.
