I like your metaphor “crumple of cars”. I can see them with their various dents waiting together for the ice to go. Think of the thousands of cars around Vancouver that day we drove Harry and Jo to your place and cars were doing the most rediculous sliding on the fresh snow. Some did 360’s in a space of 30 feet. Others went half-way up a hill and then started sliding backward.
